On a personal note I love wikepedia; however, I am also very cautious as to the information I retain from such a website. When just looking for basic information, non professional related, sure I use it all the time as a starting point. I then expand my knowledge using other credible cites. Sometimes I do the same with athletic training issues; however, this is very rare.
As far as using Wiki as an education tool, it could be useful. When I was in undergraduate we obviously would do poster projects, PowerPoint projects, ect. but we were all on campus everyday of the week so it was easy to meet up. However for online classes such as this Master's Degree program or even online undergraduate program I believe Wiki would be an awesome tool. Many people do choose to take online class due to time restraint and even the inability to drive to campus on a regular basis. This is were a group project, using a wiki site, would be extremely helpful and appropriate!
