I currently do not use any type of technology to further my career in athletic trainer. However, if I get to the point where I want to teach then using Podcast, Twitter, and Professional Learning Network (PLN) would definitely be some tools I would incorporate in my teaching. Especially with high school students, using things such as podcasts and social media could reach those students who find the traditional teaching method to be boring and useless.
I know there are some controversy in using social media in high school because of the potential lawsuits. However, I was following an ATC on Twitter and they were stating that these students can follow you but you don't have to follow them. And if you do not follow them then there can be no direct messages between the instructor and student. This is one way that can allow the teacher to ask questions and create a discussion without having to worry about a lawsuit.
