Students love to mircoblog, including high school and college students. As far as an educational stand point, mircoblogging could have some benefits such as reminders and announcements and such. Especially in high school this could be beneficial to parents to see what is going on with class.
Working with the athletic teams and following/friending our athletic programs is awesome. Our football team has a twitter and facebook and they post/tweet about player of the week, games changes, events, ect on social media that way the whole town knows what is going on. Even during off season they take pictures of the kids working out, doing lift-a-thons, and events. This is one way for coaches to connect with the athletes in their own way. Obviously there are some legal concerns but for the most part I think the kids enjoy it.
